Today we live in an environment that is becoming more and more toxic. From genetically modified food to the 1.5 million chemicals that didn’t exist 30 years ago, our bodies are subject to more and more toxicity than ever before.

It is known that our cells age and die as a result of oxidative stress. It is also known that oxidative stress and damage can be minimized — even reversed – by antioxidants that are found naturally in whole foods.

Today, the same amount of produce has 30% less nutrients than it did when our parents were children. This makes today’s healthiest food less so than it was 30 years ago.

There’s a simple rule: food that is “closer to the ground” and less processed has more antioxidants and nutrients than processed foods. Unfortunately, growth-enhancing and pest-discouraging chemicals are often sprayed on food, which inhibits the ability to absorb nutrients. Also, produce that is transported greater distances results in even greater loss of nutrients.

Combine this with the fact that we live in a fast-paced society where processed foods are the norm and the use of medications is increasing at an alarming rate, and we as a nation are becoming sicker and sicker.
